CEM Photography : Catoctin Creek Distillery : Purcellville, VA

Calling all lovers of a fine adult beverage. The word is getting out, Loudoun County's first distillery since the prohibition era is making a name for themselves on the national level. I had the chance to visit the distillery in Purcellville a few months ago. Becky (who own's the company with her husband Scott) greeted me instantly with a smile, a mop and a hose. She laughed and said she wouldn't put me to work until the second time we met. Bless her. This time she handed me off to Greg for an official Tour and Tasting. Let me make note that I am not a liquor drinker. However, for the sake of photography and local proprietorship, I tasted and I enjoyed! I really wanted to try this pear ...

CEM Photography : Horse Portraits

There has been a ton of interest for portraits with horses lately. From high school seniors to brides, everyone wants a horse. Now I haven't had a session recently specifically designed around a stable or a family horse, but here are a few that I was able to dig up from past sessions. I can honestly say that I love being around these majestic creatures. I owned two growing up in VA (Tess and One-Eyed Jack) and worked at a barn with Steeplechase racing horses. It was a great learning experience as a child to be in control of something so massive and powerful. To know that these "beasts" can be the biggest babies, it a wonderful thing. I hope you enjoy these images. Hopefully CEM Photography ...

Here's the Fields Family. They are a wonderful family that I have met through one of the school's I photograph. I've had the chance to photograph the youngest son for several years at the school but I've never gotten the entire family together. Leslie and Mike openly admitted that they hadn't had family portraits in about 6 years. This happens more often than not and it's such a shame. So to do something special and different from the rest, I took them to my super secret location in Guilford Co. It was a great session. I knew it was going well when the oldest boy started asking for certain pictures. He came in dragging his feet and kinda moping along. Typical boy. Then we started talking ...

This is Gizmo. One of my four-legged friends in my neighborhood. Her human Angie helped me with the Puppy Portraits the other day. As a small token of my appreciation I snapped a few images of her Gizmo. This first one had Angie almost fainting. Gizmo likes to run (we chased her for over an hour one day). Thank god we had a bucket full of dog treats just behind the camera. Gizmo is the sweetest thing (next to my dog).                         (these two images crack me up, you can truly see why her name is Gizmo).

CEM Photography - Training Day with Models

I recently had a little company training day with Danica, Amy and whole handful of adorable models. We planned a picnic lunch at the Pisgah Covered Bridge one afternoon. While eating we watched a horse walk up stairs. I'm not kidding but that it one of the oddest things I've ever witnessed. I've owned horses and I can honestly say I've never seen one walk up 8-10 stairs when he could have gone up the hill just beside the stiars. Sorry I digress but it was wierd. Back to training day. I had Amy and Danica bring all their cameras and gear. We didn't really have any specific agenda as to what we were going to photograph. I knew I wanted to work with the dreaded high-noon light. For some ...
